Do you know that the most sold Android phone in the first half of 2020 was the Galaxy A51?
At the time of manufacturing, Samsung cherry-picked the ingredients to make it an affordable product that checks all the fundamentals of a great smartphone. So, it was only natural that it would be topping the charts in 2020 for the most sold Android phone of the year.
Having said that, Samsung might just be cooking the same with the Galaxy A57. It will come with a better processor, cameras, Bluetooth version, and more. On top of that, Samsung is planning to launch the phone a little earlier than its usual release date in April.
Can it be the most sold phone of 2026?
Let’s have a look at the expected upgrades, based on which we can form an opinion together.
Bluetooth 6.1
A few days ago, I wrote about this new Bluetooth technology, which is supposed to improve the overall listening experience in headsets and mobile phones that support this technology. At the time, I wasn’t sure which devices would come with the new Bluetooth technology, but I am sure now for one phone.
It’s the Samsung Galaxy A56.
Even though it’s not going to have the all-time-great headphone jack, it will support Bluetooth 6.1. It is going to be great for those avid listeners who need only the best sound quality.
I know it is a minimal upgrade for most, but it is still worth mentioning.
New Exynos Processor
This might just be the most significant upgrade over the A56. I was reading some comments on Reddit where A56 users were reporting how terrible its gaming performance was because of the weak GPU core on the Exynos 1580.
Well, that should be fixed in the A57.
It’s expected to be powered by the new Exynos 1680 chipset. The GPU core will be ARM Xclipse 550. On paper, the benchmark scores suggest that this is a really powerful chip at this price range. There is no data from other mobile phones that use the Xclipse 550 GPU, and A57 may be the first one to use that GPU, but leaks suggest it will be powerful.
Anyway, I will be getting ready to extensively test its peak performance, especially on games like Call of Duty: Mobile and Genshin Impact. To make sure my network doesn’t cause any bottlenecks, I’ve already upgraded my internet plan to Verizon Fios, mainly because they offer fiber internet at affordable rates. If you’re looking to upgrade as well, I suggest reaching out to Verizon Customer Service to find out which plan suits your household’s needs.
However, as of now, I am sure that it is going to be a lot better than A56. I don’t expect it to be built for the hardcore mobile gamer, but for most, it will be fine.
Fast Battery Charging Speed
It’s been a while since Samsung has been stuck with its underwhelming 25W charging speed, particularly for its midrange A series. As for the flagship S series, it had 45W charging.
But not anymore, because the Samsung Galaxy A57 will support 45W charging speeds.
How does it impact the users?
Well, there are times when you forget to put your phone on charge overnight, and when you wake up, it’s barely alive at 4% battery.
Now, at that exact moment, you would want to take a shower and come back to at least 30% battery so that you can take up on the important calls on your way to work.
The 45W charging speed in the Samsung Galaxy A57 can charge the phone up to 50% in 30 minutes. If you take 15 minutes to take a shower, in those 15 minutes, your phone should be charged at least 25%. So, it is good, and I am glad Samsung is adding this option.
New Camera Lenses
The A56 didn’t have bad cameras, but they lacked in one very particular aspect, which was low-light photography. The reason for that was the smaller lenses compared to the big ones in the flagship S series.
This problem should be fixed in the new A57. Leaks and rumors suggest that Samsung is going with a Sony sensor, which is bigger and can capture more light at night. It’s rumored to have a 50MP sensor coupled with one 13MP ultrawide lens, and the same 5MP macro lens for your close-up shots.
Having said that, the bigger lens might find it difficult to maintain the balance in the high-brightness environment, but I am sure that Samsung will find a fix with the help of software tricks.
How will it perform in real life? For that, we have to wait until it is actually released, but I expect it to be good.
Last but not least, adding a little more sugar is the price point.
With all these upgrades, it is going to remain similarly priced at $499 for the 128 GB storage and 8 GB RAM variant. I believe it will be a great phone and will likely be one of the most sold phones in 2026.
